St Clare Knights of Columbus Council 9708 has now received this national award 5 times in the last 6 years.

The Star Council Award recognizes excellence in a Council’s Faith, Family, Community, and Life Programs, charitable outreach, excellence in membership growth, and promotion of insurance and fraternal benefits

Congratulations to Mike Proffitt who was named Knight of the Quarter for the 3rd Quarter of 2024.  Mike serves as the Knights Emergency Coordinator and was recognized for his outstanding efforts in assisting Brother Knights, their families, and St. Clare Parishioners during the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

The St. Clare Knights of Columbus and their spouses hosted a Parish Fellowship Breakfast on Sunday, Nov 10, 2024, after the 9 am mass.  The breakfast is scheduled every other month and the Knights begin serving at 9:30 am.  Plan to stop for future events after the 9:00 am Mass, or come prior to 11:00 am Mass. Enjoy visiting with family and friends while having a relaxing breakfast.  The Knights are happy to serve you, while you enjoy a great meal!

The Past Grand Knight Dinner was held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Tommy’s Seafood Restaurant.  Past Grand Knight Bill Hoff was honored for his service as Grand Knight for his third term during the 2023-24 fraternal year.  Current Grand Knight Jim Hickok summarized Bill’s many accomplishments during his tenures.

On November 2, 2024, the St. Clare Knights of Columbus donated $5,000 to the St. Clare School Tuition Assistance Program.  Pictured from left to right are; Frank Standa, Principal Nadia Canino, Fr. Vincent Nguyen, and Grand Knight Jim Hickok.

On October 26, 2024, the St Clare Knights of Columbus held an Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity to welcome new members to the Council.  These new members (front row left to right) are Brian O’Neal, Dr. Thomas Thomas, Victor Martinez, and Paul Miller.  The ceremony was conducted by Brothers Frank Standa, John Soisson, Gordon Ducote, Pat Hall, and Deacon Bob Herbert as clergy.   After the ceremony, Grand Knight Jim Hickok invited family and friends to a lunch social.

On Sunday October 21, 2024, Grand Knight Jim Hickok presented a $2,000 check to Gordon Ducote and the Christians in Action Ministry in support of their work.

The St. Clare Knights of Columbus hosted the 2024 District Soccer Challenge on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the St. Clare Soccer Fields.  The event was officiated by District Deputy Joe Kramer, Grand Knight Jim Hickok, Deputy Grand Knight Mark Kubacak, and Brother Joe Ross.  The District Winners from St. Clare were Francisco Martinez, and brothers Ethan, Gabriel and Jacob Wild.  The District Winner from St. Paul was Alexis Akanwa.  These winners now advance to the Galveston Houston Archdiocese competition on Saturday, November 9, 2024, and winners from the Diocese competition will advance to the State Competition.  Congratulations to our winners and good luck in the upcoming competitions!

The St. Clare Knights of Columbus Council 9708 are proud to announce the 2024 Scholarship Winners.  This year with the support of the James & Elizabeth Witten Family, and Tony, Carl, and Lynn Ogden, the Council was able to award 7 one year scholarships totaling $11,000.

 

Thank you to all the Volunteers that made our November Parish Breakfast Social a great success Sunday, November 12.  We served a total of 123 meals to the attendees and our workers, that is a great turnout!
