2026 Father Benjamin King Celebrates Mass for St. Clare Parish

Recently ordained Father Benjamin King celebrated Mass on Thursday, August 27, for St. Clare Parish at St. Bernadette Church in Houston.  Father Benjamin is the grandson of Pat and Mary Alyce Hall of St. Clare of Assisi Parish.  The St. Clare of Assisi Knights of Columbus have proudly supported Father Benjamin financially and spiritually throughout his seminary formation and journey to the priesthood.  After Mass, a reception was held in the Family Life Center, where the St. Clare Knights presented Father Benjamin with a chalice to mark the beginning of his priesthood.

2026 St Clare of Assisi Ice Cream Social

On July 30th, nearly 150 St. Clare parishioners and friends celebrated at this year’s Knights-sponsored Christmas in July Ice Cream Social. There was a best-dressed contest, raffle prizes for children and adults, and lots of ice cream. Shown are some satisfied attendees and volunteers.

 

2026 St Clare Knights – Scholarship Applications

Scholarship Applications are now available for download!
The St. Clare Knights are now accepting scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors. Applicants must attend, and be registered members of St Clare parish. This is a merit-based scholarship, good toward the student’s first year of post-secondary education. Scholarships will be awarded up to $2,500, including one scholarship just for students who attended St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School.  Applications can be found below.

Completed application packages must be received at the parish office before they close at 4:30pm Friday, March 27, 2026.

2026 St Clare Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition was held at the St. Clare of Assisi gym on Saturday, January 17 and brought together youth, families, and volunteers for an afternoon of friendly competition and fellowship. Four Knights of Columbus councils were represented: Council 9708 from St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Council 5232 from St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception in La Porte, Council 6234 from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Nassau Bay, and Council 10959 from St. Bernadette Catholic Church. A total of 17 young athletes participated and demonstrated strong effort, focus, and sportsmanship throughout the event. At the conclusion of the competition, eight participants, including two girls and six boys, qualified to advance to the Regional (Archdiocese) Free Throw Competition. The Knights of Columbus extend sincere thanks to the volunteers, participants, parents, and all those who supported the event and helped make it a positive and successful experience for everyone involved.

Congratulations to the St. Clare Knights of Columbus on receiving the prestigious National Star Award and Texas Lone Star Award for the 2024-2025 year under the leadership of Past Grand Knight Jim Hickok.  District Deputy Joe Kramer presented the Awards to the Council on Dec 11, 2025.  This is the highest National Award and Texas Award which recognizes excellence in a Council’s Faith, Family, Community, and Life Programs, charitable outreach, membership growth, and promotion of insurance and fraternal benefits.  The Council has now received the national award 6 times in the last 7 years.

Congratulations to everyone for the tireless work on Service Programs and charitable work, it is our members and our spouses, that keep our Council vibrant and alive.  Congratulations to all the volunteers that make our Council work!
